Jammu, Jan 31 (KNO) : Asserting that PDP is committed to carry out a relentless struggle to achieve the party’s target of establishing lasting peace in the state and to create a space for everyone to contribute and thrive in the democratic process with dignity and resolves to carry forwards late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s policy of peace and reconciliation, party General Secretary Ved Mahajan emphasised on the need of adopting “healing touch” policy of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to heal wounds of the people at this crucial time. He was addressing a workers convention here at Party office Jammu convened to welcome newly nominated party secretary Mr Jatinder Bhat. Mahajan said that the present government led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti is carrying the baggage of neglect from the previous government. He said that the government has been grappling with difficulties arising out of mismanagement by previous regime and that is most of the areas in the state have not been able to keep pace with the developed areas ."PDP government is committed to undo this dismay by ensuring that administration is geared for rational utilization of available resource for key sectors like roads, bridges, public health, power and rural development," he said. He said Chief Minister has taken series of measures aimed at bringing relief to people and resolving complex issues of Governance and political nature. He hoped that her sincere efforts will bring the desired relief on all fronts and PDP’s agenda will see desired accomplishment with public support in tune with its established policies and commitments. On this occasion senior leader and MLC Ch Surinder singh while applauding the late Mufti for having the vision and capability of having hammered out a document like the Agenda of Alliance stated that it was the first time that issues concerning the political as well as economic front were so well documented and that the Central as well as the State leadership were brought on the same page. He said that “The Chief Minister Ms.Mehbooba Mufti is relentlessly pursuing the implementation of the Agenda of Alliance at the highest level and we must strive towards building a peaceful and conducive environment for implementing the terms of the Agenda of Alliance as it will go a great deal in not only addressing the political issues that the State faces, but will also help in boosting the State’s economy”’ said Choudhry. Speaking on this occasion party Secretary Jatinder Bhat said that PDP has a track record of pursuing the policy of dialogue for resolution of all issues and Mufti Mohmmad Syed changed the discourse in the sub-continent when it witnessed spell of initiatives from 2002 t0 2005 for friendship between India and Pakistan and building of mutual trust at peoples level through various exchanges like opening of closed routes , mutual trade etc. He said late Mufti Sayeed developed an alternative narrative in the State and provide balm to the wounds of people with the launch of PDP and subsequently the government led by him in 2002 succeeded to a large extent in that. He said it was for the first time that the discourse in the State got changed to an extent that some of the monumental confidence building measures were taken to assuage the feeling of the people. He said that PDP is a movement to change fate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Policies and programmes of PDP are formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society”. Senior PDP leaders, Romesh koul, Ashok Sidha, Capt Anil Gour, Suresh Sharma, District Presidents, Rajinder Manhas, F C Bhagat , Surinder Singh, Dr Harmesh Salathia, Zone Presidents of Jammu Rural & Jammu Urban besides Youth leaders were present on this occasion.(KNO)
